Anycubic has launched its new Home Decoration 3D Printing Contest

Desktop 3D printer manufacturer Anycubic has announced the launch of its Home Decoration 3D Printing Contest.

Aimed at artists, engineers, makers, and other 3D printing enthusiasts, the competition asks contestants to design and 3D print a novel piece of decorative home furniture. Those without a 3D printer can also participate, as Anycubic will also be accepting digital design files.

To make it worth your while, the company is offering a whole host of prizes for the winners of the contest, including the upcoming Vyper FDM 3D printer and batches of polymer 3D printing materials.

The Vyper 3D printer

The top prize for the contest, Anycubic’s new Vyper 3D printer, was recently showcased at TCT Asia. Featuring a hearty build volume measuring 245 x 245 x 260mm, the Vyper is the company’s first system to offer fully automatic bed leveling. This completely eliminates the tedious manual leveling process, which can sometimes take up to 15 minutes, streamlining the 3D printing workflow for newcomers and veterans alike.

Equipped with a new 32-bit motherboard and a high-performance Cortex M3 main control chip, the Vyper enables print speeds of up to 100mm/s – 30% faster than the company’s older Mega series. The new TMC2209 Silent Driver also ensures a silent 3D printing experience, while an in-built filament runout sensor will pause the print in the case of a filament shortage.

Furthermore, Anycubic has revamped the Vyper’s build plate with a spring steel layer, a soft magnetic rubber layer, and a special scratch-resistant coating. As such, the removable bed is designed to be tougher than ever, resisting deformation at high temperatures while eliminating the need for glue and other adhesives.

To top things off, the 3D printer comes complete with a new 4.3” full color touchscreen on the front, which is larger than that of previous generations. With a maximum nozzle temperature of 260°C, the Vyper prints PLA, ABS, TPU and PETG.

Retailing at $359 ($299 for pre-orders) and limited to just 3000 units, the system will have its pre-launch event held on June 10 at 7:00AM PT / 4:00PM CEST. More information about the Anycubic Vyper Pre-Order Event can be found here.

The Home Decoration 3D Printing Contest

All you need to take part in the Home Decoration 3D Printing Contest is a 3D CAD software program and some creativity. Split into two categories – one for those who 3D print their designs and one for those who upload the models – the competition is intended to be accessible to anyone, regardless of resources. Both categories will have five winners each and you can only participate in one of the two.

Details on how to submit a home decoration design can be found here. The deadline is June 15.

The ten winners will be selected based on three criteria: the sophistication of the home decoration piece, the originality of the design, and how closely it aligns with the specification of the contest. A diverse board of ten Anycubic employees from several of the company’s departments will act as judges, and the results will be released on June 17.
